Wikipedia | Google | Google Images | FlickrSuria KLCC is a huge 6 floor shopping center located beneath the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The center covers a staggering 2 million square feet and has over 550 stores. If you need to do some shopping in Malaysia, this is the place to go. There are shops and small cafés on every floor but there is also a food court on floor two, a supermarket across all floors and a cinema on the third level. Suria KLCC opened in May 1998 and ever since, millions of people visit to do their shopping each and every year.
What to ExpectSuria KLCC has a variety of stores, from Malaysian boutiques to well known international high street shops including Apple, Topshop, Mango, Zara, Converse, Marks & Spencer, and Parkson. On the 4th floor is a large bookstore. There is also plenty of choices for food as they offer cuisine from all around the world including Indian, Malay, Chinese and even your typical western McDonald's!
On the ground floor you will find the high-end designer labels like Gucci, Escada and Prada. You will also find the designer bag shops like Hermes that sell the famous Kelly and Birkin Bag. Recently Huawei opened its Malaysian flagship store in Suria KLCC.
Throughout the year, there are a variety of events that take place around Suria KLCC such as the Mooncake Festival, the Jewelry Festival and the Comic Fiesta. Check out the events calendar before visiting as you may be lucky to catch one of these amazing festivals.
When to VisitSuria KLCC is open from 10 AM to 10 PM, 7 days a week! As the mall is the most well known in Kuala Lumpur, it does get very busy, especially at the weekends when the locals are out of work. Try and stick to the times when the locals won't be shopping and it will be a lot easier to get around.
Another great time to visit is when the sun goes down as the fountains outside light up and are incredible to watch!
How to Get ThereThe best way to visit Suria KLCC is by train. The train systems in Kuala Lumpur are incredibly cheap and extremely modern. The train journey will cost you approximately $ 1.00 USD each way and the train pulls up right outside the mall.
You can also get taxis to take you to Suria KLCC, but it will take a long time due to traffic which will also mean it will be a lot more expensive.
Other Activies Around Suria KLCCAs the mall is situated in the center of Kuala Lumpur, there are also a few other things you can do while you are visiting. Why not take a ride 86 floors up the almighty Petronas Towers. Tickets can be purchased below the mall or on their website for RM 80 ($26).
If heights aren't for you, there is a cinema on level 3 of the mall playing all the latest blockbuster movies for you to watch.
Just outside the mall is the KLCC Park, the most notable feature of which are its fountains, having a music show at certain times in the evening. Though not quite as spectacular as the fountain shows found in Dubai Mall or the Bellagio Las Vegas, it is still fun to watch.
Adjacent to the mall is the Aquaria KLCC which is by far the biggest on-shore aquariums in South East Asia. It is divided into several sections including a marine tunnel where you are able to see sharks and huge Manta Rays!
- Allow yourself plenty of time when you visit so that you can truly appreciate this fascinating shopping mall.
- Make sure you visit the signature food court on the second floor and try a cuisine you have never had before.
- If you are going to the cinema to watch a movie, make sure you take a jumper with you as the air conditioning does get very cold.
