Universal Studios Singapore is the first theme park to have been opened in Southeast Asia. It is also the second Universal Studios theme park in Asia, with Japan as the first. Universal Studios Singapore is located at Resorts World Sentosa, which was built on April of 2008. Nine months after its opening on March 2010, Universal Studios Singapore has already attracted more than 2 million people.

History

The theme park held a sneak peek week from February 12-14, 2010, because of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Universal Studios Singapore had its soft launch period from March 18, 2010 to October 26, 2010, with the grand opening held on March 28,2010.

Preceding the opening was a grand and star-studded gala with Asian celebrities such as Vicki Zhao, Maggie Cheung, Jet Li, and Paula Abdul attending the event, along with an estimated number of 1,600 guests. The gala was held on the night of 27 March, 2011.

The theme park has been branded as “one-of-its-kind theme park in Asia” by Universal Parks and Resorts. The management promises that the theme park will live up to its brand for the next 3 decades.

Universal Studios Sentosa presents seven major zones. Here is a list of the zones and their highlighted attractions.

Hollywood

The Hollywood Boulevard is the first attraction to welcome you upon entering the theme park. The pavement lined with beautiful palm trees make for a very pleasant walk. Throughout your stroll, you can look at and see the names of your favorite celebrities embedded down the well-known Walk of Fame.

New York

New York is one of the many (if not the most) famous American cities. The ‘Big Apple’ comes to life within this area. Adults and children alike can enjoy and even participate in the fanciful dancing and singing presentations of the furred and lovable characters of Sesame Street.

Ancient Egypt

If you’re fearless and intrepid, the daring Revenge of the Mummy will definitely appeal to your daredevil desires! Within this zone, you can also see and take pictures with beautiful and majestic Egyptian mascots on stilts who wander the area.

The Lost World

This area highlights two amazing dinosaur experiences. First, the Canopy Flyer where you can view the Jurassic Park from above. If you want your dino quests on land instead of air, go aboard Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure.
